Welcome to the Ethiopian Community Center in Maryland (ECCM)—a trusted name in community service since 2013. Originally established to improve the quality of life for Ethiopians, immigrants, and low-income individuals, ECCM provided educational programs, cultural initiatives, and vital social services that promoted self-sufficiency, empowerment, and cultural pride.

Our goal was to unite and uplift the Ethiopian-American community through accessible services, support networks, and a deep appreciation of Ethiopian culture and history.

For years, ECCM has proudly served as a hub for:

  • Cultural enrichment and identity-building
  • Emergency response and community safety
  • Networking for professionals and youth empowerment
  • Strategic planning for socio-economic development
  • Information sharing and advocacy

As times have changed, so too has our mission. Recognizing the growing need for accessible, accurate, and up-to-date information on public services and government programs, ECCM has evolved into a modern news and media portal—while still holding true to our roots of community care and service.

Today, ECCM is committed to supporting retirees, caregivers, immigrants, and vulnerable populations by providing critical updates on government-run support schemes in both the United States and the United Kingdom. Our platform now helps communities navigate a wide range of financial and social programs, including:

  • SNAP (Food Stamps), Social Security, and IRS stimulus payments
  • Healthcare updates, retirement benefits, and income support
  • UK programs such as DWP (Department for Work and Pensions), PIP (Personal Independence Payment), and WASPI pension reform updates

Whether you’re trying to understand your next Social Security payment, check SNAP eligibility, or track PIP changes in the UK, ECCM is here to guide you through it all.

Though our format has shifted from community center to digital information hub, our purpose remains grounded in service, inclusion, and support. We are proud to continue being a trusted voice for Ethiopian-Americans and broader immigrant communities—now expanded to serve a global audience seeking clarity and empowerment through reliable information.

At ECCM, we believe that knowledge is power—and by sharing it, we can uplift every household we reach.

Thank you for being a part of our journey.
